KYO'S WEB LOG

three games that shaped my taste

Ocarina of Time, Minecraft and Stardew Valley shaped different parts of what I love in games.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME

Ocarina of Time gave me the feeling that a game world could be mysterious long after I stopped playing. Hyrule felt bigger than the map itself. The music, the strange locations, the shift between childhood and adulthood, and the feeling of entering places that had their own rules all stayed with me.

MINECRAFT

Minecraft made worlds feel personal. A random landscape could slowly become a place full of memories because I had built something there, got lost there, or found something unexpected. It also showed me how powerful simple systems can be when they leave enough space for imagination.

STARDEW VALLEY

Stardew Valley made routine feel comforting instead of boring. It has progress, characters and goals, but it also lets small days matter. There is something nice about improving a place slowly and seeing it become yours.

They are very different games, but all three made virtual places feel meaningful. That is probably the connection. I do not only want games to entertain me. I want their worlds to stay somewhere in my head.
